Anyone looking for the best juice cleanse will quickly come across lists of winners and star ratings. But who actually did the testing? Certainly not Stiftung Warentest. Most rankings of the best cleanses come from comparison sites that rank them according to their own rules. So who chooses the best juice cleanse there?
We do things differently and lay out the criteria. You’ll learn how to recognize the best juice cleanse, how much it should cost per day, and why price alone tells you almost nothing. And yes, we’re a provider ourselves. That’s why we show you exactly which criteria put our cleanse in first place, so you can check for yourself.
Good to know 💡
Stiftung Warentest has tested apple juice, orange juice, and multivitamin juice so far, but not juice cleanses. If you see a Stiftung Warentest winner for juice cleanses, it’s worth taking a closer look.
The best juice cleanse isn’t the one with the loudest seal of approval, but the one with the best ingredients. Five criteria make the difference, and you can check them all on the bottle or product page: vegetables instead of sugar, cold-pressed without heat, organic quality, transparent nutritional information, and a fair price per day. Based on these exact criteria, our ranking of the best juice cleanses looks like this.
For the other products in the ranking, it always depends on the specific product. One cleanse may be better or worse than its type suggests. You can only find the best juice cleanse by checking the label.
| Rank | Cleanse type | Vegetables | Production | Organic | Price per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | DALUMA, vegetable-focused, cold-pressed, HPP | high | no heat | yes | 28 to 40 euros |
| 2 | other online cold-pressed cleanses | varies, check the label | usually not heat-treated | sometimes | similar |
| 3 | homemade juices | as you like | fresh, no heat | depends on how you buy | inexpensive, a lot of work |
| 4 | unrefrigerated cleanses from the store shelf | often fruit-heavy | usually heat-treated | sometimes | inexpensive |
The most important criterion for the best juice cleanse is the vegetable content. The World Health Organization counts sugar from fruit juice as free sugar, which should make up less than ten percent of daily energy intake (WHO, 2015). A cleanse heavy on apples, grapes, and oranges can quickly become a sugar cleanse. The best juice cleanse keeps sugar low by including plenty of vegetables. A small study also found changes in the oral and gut microbiome after three days of consuming only juice, probably because of the sugar and lack of fiber (Northwestern University, 2025). Our article on calories and sugar in a juice cleanse shows how much sugar is in each juice.
Our assessment upfront
Turn the bottle around. If cucumber, celery, or kale are at the top of the ingredients list, you're on the right track. If you see apple or grape, you're mainly paying for sweetness.
The second criterion for the best juice cleanse is how it's made. Juices that don't need refrigeration are generally heat-treated. A review concludes that heat treatment destroys an average of 50 to 70 percent of vitamin C, while methods that don't use heat often retain more than 90 percent (Review, 2026). That's why the best juice cleanse is cold-pressed and preserved using high water pressure, a process known as HPP. Find out how it works in our article on cold-pressed juice.
Organic farming is another way to identify the best juice cleanse. Organic matters for more than peace of mind when it comes to juice. In official testing, 80.1 percent of organic samples had no measurable pesticide residues, compared with 45.9 percent of conventional produce (Federal Office, 2026). Transparent nutritional information is just as important. The best juice cleanse lists calories and sugar per day, so you don't have to guess.
The total price can be misleading because a cleanse replaces all meals for its duration. So always work out the cost per day. Our 1 TAG SAFTFASTEN RESET costs 39.95 euros, the BESSERE SAFTKUR PLUS costs 99.95 euros for three days and 199.95 euros for seven days (DALUMA, 2026). That works out to around 28 to 40 euros a day; the longer the cleanse, the lower the cost per day. So the best juice cleanse doesn't have to be the most expensive. A high price is no guarantee of quality, though. With a fruit-heavy cleanse, any extra cost is wasted.
We designed our cleanses around exactly these criteria, which is why we consider them the best juice cleanse and rank them in first place. According to the nutritional information, the BESSERE SAFTKUR PLUS provides 731 to 885 kilocalories a day, while the GRÜNE SAFTKUR PLUS, with even more vegetables, provides 560 to 640 (DALUMA, 2026). They also include kombucha, ginger shots, a face mask, and a post-cleanse program for the days afterward.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Many cleanses from supermarkets or drugstores are shelf-stable. That’s convenient, but it comes at a cost in terms of the contents. To find out whether one of them is the best juice cleanse for you, check two things: the ingredients list and the storage instructions.

Disadvantages:
Stiftung Warentest has not tested any juice cleanses
Vegetables listed first, no heat, organic ingredients, and transparent nutritional values are what matter
Always compare the price per day; ours is around 28 to 40 euros
By these criteria, we consider our cleanse number one
The best juice cleanse has a high vegetable content, is cold-pressed and preserved without heat, is organic, and clearly lists its nutritional values. By these criteria, we consider our cleanse number one.
No. Stiftung Warentest has tested juices such as apple and orange juice, but not juice cleanses.
Check the ingredients list and storage instructions. Vegetables listed first and refrigerated storage rather than shelf stability are the two best signs.
Our best juice cleanse costs around 28 to 40 euros per day, depending on the duration. The longer the cleanse, the lower the cost per day.
At DALUMA, 560 to 640 kilocalories per day; the classic cleanse has 731 to 885.
For beginners, we recommend three days on the classic cleanse. It’s gentler and provides more energy than the green one.
Not bad, but usually heat-treated and higher in fruit. Read the ingredients before you buy. That’s how to find the best juice cleanse for you.
